Remote village in the Andean highlands
Cusubamba is a remote village in the Andean highlands within the La Tacunga region. It's surrounded by fields, hills and mountains, and is a good place to walk around. If you take into account the height and the fact that every move higher is more difficult, it is best to leave some things in the village and go back for them a few days later. This means you need a return journey and perhaps it wastes time. The people are friendly, and there is little tourist infrastructure. You can stay in a house if you ask people where there is a free room. You can leave a bit of money, or even better, you can go shopping with your host and ask what they need in the store.
You shouldn't leave more than the price of a basic hotel that is 2 to $ 3 per night per person. Upon leaving, I found Yesica, cheeks full of dirt and messy hair, observing me timidly in front of her house. When I asked if she worked in the field, she proudly said "no I study"! Many children do not have her luck, but she also helps in the fields after school.
