Currys is a retailer of wholesale appliances and hi-fi in the UK and Ireland, part of the Dixons group. Now they have 295 hypermarkets and 73 stores across the two countries. Currys was founded in 1884 by Henry Curry (born in Leicester in 1850), who started his career by building bikes full time in a shed at the bottom of his garden. He opened his first store in 1888 at 271 Belgrave Gate, Leicester.
