Una de las zonas destacadas cercanas al poblado de San Juan Bautista corresponden a antiguas cuevas en dónde, se dice, vivió el marinero escocés Alejandro Selkirk quién fue confinado a la soledad en esta isla durante 4 años y 4 meses, entre 1703 y 1709. Su historia valió para la creación de la afamada novela "Robinson Crusoe". A pocos metros de la cueva es posible divisar lobos marinos que descansan cerca del mar.
One of the outstanding areas near the town of San Juan Bautista correspond to ancient caves in dnde, it is said, lived the sailor Scotsman Alexander Selkirk quin was confined to solitude on this island for 4 years and 4 months between 1703 and 1709. His vali history for creation of the famous novel "Robinson Crusoe". A few meters from the cave is possible to see sea lions resting near the sea.
