Cruceiro Barrantes
One of the most important elements of popular Galician architecture is undoubtedly the Cruzeiro. You can find them in many places in Galicia, in some houses as well as road crossings, churches, and as in this case in this large square. In the square where the Town Hall is located, this beautiful stone well stands, a stone carved cross that stands on three steps. The shaft is octagonal and it houses the figure of San Francisco, a crucified Christ on one side and the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus on the other side. Its installation in the plaza is quite recent.
