12 reviews of Dubai Creek

Dubai Creek

If you think the tourist boats in the Creek of Dubai are too expensive, a cheaper and just as pleasant option is in Abra, the traditional boats of Dubai. The official price is 100 durhams for an hour with the Abra option, no matter how many people go. Another interesting option is to choose an open creek by crossing the Bur Dubai to Deira (Deira Old Souq Line Station (Deira) - Bur Dubai Station (Bur Dubai), a means of transport used by locals and can be accessed for the modest price of 0.25 € per person. Payment is made directly to the boat operator in cash. It operates all day and late into the night.

If you have time and want to enjoy time relaxing in Dubai Creek, you can rent a boat for you alone or for you and your companions for 100 durhams per hour.

Suspended between past and future, the Creek is the natural seawater inlet that runs through the center of Dubai and saw spend the whole history of the city and its economic development. On its banks contrasting the modern buildings, such as the Twin Towers with the centuries-old souks and minarets of mosques. The most enjoyable way to see the skyline offered by the Creek is to hop on a Abra, a water taxi very cheap that connects the two sides. Today it is still used as a means of transport by its inhabitants. Do not miss a stroll through the commercial port, where for centuries the goods are discharged from the trade routes with India and Africa. For tourists are also available in special boats about an hour exploring around the Creek, from the mouth to the bridge Maktoum.

Brief but intense

Breve pero intenso

Excellent
The old Dubai (Bur Dubai neighborhood and Deira) was, for me, one of the main attractions when visiting this fascinating city. They are separated by the River Creek. Previously, the only way to cross from one side to the other was through abras, small traditional wooden boats. Today has faded some of the magic, as both the old legs are connected by the Dubai Metro. However, they remain open (in 2009 had 149) and still used for convenience, immediacy, price advantage and charm. The ride is ridiculous though, I must say, lasts only a few minutes. However, this is quite a fascinating and ceremonial, if you participate in it, makes you feel like one, a citizen in a place certainly as opposed to an environment like mine. Girl and traveling alone, I felt safe and happy in this as in all the activities I did in Dubai (and there were many). No excuse to enjoy a short boat ride bring you to wonderful places like the spice market or gold.

From one bank to another

The Dubai Creek extending from the Al Maktoum Bridge to the sea River estuary lively as dhows borrow it to reach the docks, but also a multitude of small boats, abrasion, and the furrow are back and forth between the two sides. Transport of small size, abrasive offer at the foot of skyscrapers pretty pictures! The atmosphere, if not the difference in climate, and can evoke Venice vaporetto. The abra are picturesque, well ventilated to enjoy the sea air. The trips are relatively short, but very useful as to pass from one side to the other, only they or the motorway tunnel (congested).

Arbras step in the oldest Dubai

We crossed a souk to another using the station Arbras of Dubai Creek, near the souk, to reach the souk of spices and gold. Boats, although ancient and bizarre, unlike the standard in cars and buildings they hold, are a curious means of transport, intended mainly local. The trip lasted about 10 minutes and cost 1 AED
