The Courthouse is the Limerick Palace of Justice. It's near the historic district of the city, in King's Island. It was built just in front of the Cathedral of St Mary's, establishing the religious and political power in the same location. This used to be the medieval Franciscan abbey in the thirteenth century. Before that, they used the Thingmount, which was the Viking council chamber, and his court. The courthouse was built in 1810, replacing the one that was built in 1732.
