Corumbela

Corumbela is a village belonging to the municipality of Sayalonga and its main attraction is its wonderful scenery, as it is right next to the Parque Natural de Tejeda and Alhama Almijara mountains. It's height of 632 meters results in open views in all directions, with wonderful views of the Mediterranean on clear days. According to history, the people of Corumbela was delivered to Diego Fernandez de Cordoba by Ferdinand and Isabella, as payment for his services to the crown. After this, it became part of the House of Medinaceli, and remained under their control until the Cortes of Cadiz prohibited the manors, in the year 1811.

From then until almost 50 years later it had its own government, but there was a group of municipalities in the area ad later it became part of the Sayalonga council.
