A fabulous forest
With an army of 340 men, Francisco Vázquez de Coronado explored North America between 1540 and 1542 in search of the myth of the 7 cities of gold in Cibola. The expedition was considered a failure because they didn't find gold but they did find treasures like the Grand Canyon (they were the first white men to see it). The Coronado National Memorial tells the story of this in a fabulous forest which is traversed on an unpaved track near Tucson.
