Typical Cuisine and Silbo
Even though the place doesn’t seem very inviting from outside (it looks like the typical highway restaurant), the food was great. Just like the sign says, it is “a sign of identity” (“seña de identidad), since we could try authentic and typical gastronomy, with a special silbo (whistle language) demonstration.
Potent meals based on a watercress stew, a cheese called “almogrote”, a delicious pineapple salad with cheese, grapes and lettuces, with a dressing make of palm honey, an “old fashioned” tuna casserole and pig with rosemary. It was accompanied by bread and sauces. And afterwards came the dessert: an original “gofio” (toasted corn) mousse with palm honey (spectacular, and I don’t even like gofio). We also had a “barraquito” (coffee, milk, condensed milk and liquor).
