Cette colonne a été érigée en 1703 en commémoration de la libération du Tyrol par les bavarois et les français qui l’avaient occupé pendant les guerres de succession d’Espagne. Son nom lui vient du jour de cette libération, qui n’était autre que celui de la fête de la Sainte Anne, d’ailleurs présente non pas au sommet du monument mais à son socle, entourée de trois autres saints sculptés par Christoforo Benedetti: Le saint protecteur du Tyrol, Saint Georges, et les saints patrons de Trente et Brixen : Respectivement Saint Virgile et Saint Cassien. Au sommet de la colonne de marbre rouge se trouve la Vierge Marie sur un croissant de lune, sa tête auréolée d’étoiles.
Ce n’est pas tant le monument qui m’a marqué que son intégration dans un paysage d’ensemble : La ville d’Innsbruck avec cette colonne en son centre, et les belles montagnes qui l’entourent…
This column was erected in 1703 to commemorate the liberation of Tyrol by the Bavarian and French who had occupied during the war of the Spanish Succession. Its name comes from the date of this release, which was none other than the Feast of St. Anne, also not present at the top of the monument but its base, surrounded by three other saints sculpted by Christoforo Benedetti: The patron saint of Tyrol, St. George, and the patron saints of Trent and Brixen: Respectively Saint Virgil and St. Cassian. At the top of the column of red marble is the Virgin Mary on a crescent moon, his head haloed stars.
