King George II of England founded Columbia University in 1754, calling it King's College. Columbia is one of the oldest states. But its current location dates from 1897. It has a Romanesque style with a grand staircase and a figure that says "Alma Mater" and ten Corinthian columns. In truth, it takes up a lot of ground, as we take into account the hotel grounds and museum library.
