Interesting Place

The Christopher Columbus House-Museum is located in front of the cathedral of Santa Ana in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, in the historical neighborhood of Vegueta. It is believed that in this place it is believed that Columbus stayed when he visited the Canary Islands. Since the Canary Islands where on the route to America, they offered a stopover for sailors before commencing the hard transatlantic navigation.

The entrance to the museum is free of charge. It is a beautiful colonial house, with wood balconies, tile roofs and white walls. Inside there is an interesting part about the evolution of maps and navigation tools. You can see how the maps were modified over centuries due to the conquests and advances in geography and astronomy.
