Gastrobar Le Cabrera - Closed

You’re walking towards a destination, a cocktail lounge that everyone’s told you great things about. A few feet before arriving at the door, something to the left catches your eye.. It’s the stairs leading up to Santa Bárbara church, a wonder in its own right that deserves a few moments of your time. We’re on Bárbara de Braganza street and we’ve arrived at our destination, La Cabrera.

After going through the door, you realize that something special is going to happen this evening. The atmosphere of this bar is different, the air is special, the aroma is different from any other bar you’ve been to. It’s the same sensation that I felt when I entered Del Diego (another cocktail loung you can’t miss). And, suddenly, you realize there's two floors: the first floor with a charming bar and an equally charming basement level where you can sit down at small tables. The decision isn’t easy. We came to drink a gin and tonic and a cocktail, but the whole idea of the "gastrobar" has us heading downstairs to a table.

Le Cabrera is a new cocktail bar lead by one of Madrid’s best bartenders: Diego Cabrera from Argentina. It opened its doors in January 2010 and quickly gained a reputation as one of Madrid’s best cocktail bars. Luis Gallusi is responsible for the interior decorating and all the waiters’ uniforms are from El Ganso, one of Madrid’s most stylish shops.
The gin and tonic menu is more than ample and the drinks are prepared with the upmost care. But Le Cabrera doesn’t stop there. Their selection of gin, vodka, rum, and whisky is unmatched in Madrid and mixed cocktails are the house specialty. Diego’s favorite is a Manhattan and he prepares them expertly, and we always take his recommendations. The team, led by Diego, Ruth, and Michel, are all charming and treat you with professionalism.

Good atmosphere, nice decoration, great service, and incredible cocktails. And it’s not at all expensive considering the quality and the neighborhood.
