You can climb to the top to see the view
The clock tower dominates the center of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In almost all the colonial cities of Sri Lanka, you can find a clock tower, and the most modern cities, a version of the "twentieth century" clock, overall a pretty ugly building which shows the time via a digital display. Square shaped, you can spot the Galle clock tower afar, and it was built with the same stone as the walls of the city. It is located on the northern wall, at the entrance to the city. It has not stopped working nor has it been destroyed, despite numerous invasions of Galle. Its renovation took place when the World Heritage status was inscribed.
