The Historic Centre of Bari
Bari's historic centre is located on a peninsula between Porto Nuovo and Porto Vecchio. The district offers narrow, winding streets and alleys that contain most of the monuments of the city. These monuments include the Cattedrale San Sabino, Basilica di San Nicola, the Svevo Norman castle, Fortino di San Antonio Abate, Monastero di Santa Scolastika, and what remains of the wall (Muraglia) along the Via Venezia. The Piazza del Ferrarese and the Piazza Mercantile are surrounded by restaurants and bars where you can enjoy local cuisine such as pizzas, pasta, fish and seafood.
