Ancient capital of the Cotswolds
The town of Cirencester used to be the ancient capital of the Cotswolds region in the English countryside, located just 90 minutes away from London. In the surrounding region you can find Bath and Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace. The Cotswolds are a landform formed by the rolling hills that occupy the region, and is extremely beautiful, with many pretty towns and villages .... It is a great area to walk and relax and have a great weekend, if you have enough time.... It's also good for a quick excursion away from London. The town of Cirencester was once the capital of the Costwolds.
It is an attractive market town, with charming streets and its famous "wool church", so called as it was built for the wool business and considered the cathedral of the Costwolds. In Cirencester you will see magnificent houses, built in limestone, all very neat and decorated with many flowers, as well as shopping streets in the centre, where you will also find many pubs, perfect to stop in for a delicious beer.....
