Church of the Picts
After getting completely lost in Angus, between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, we found this historical church that was quite different from others we'd seen, mostly because of the type of stone. A little research suggested that a Pictish settlement had been founded here. The first data we found suggested that the church dated back to the thirteenth century, but there were mentions of previous constructions, and some of the architectural elements seemed more reminiscent of the ninth century. The church served to shelter and protect people, which suggested that there might have been an order of warrior-monks, like the Knights of St John or the Knights Templar, here.
