Beautiful frescoes
When you enter St Peter's Abbey via St Peter's Square, it looks small at first, almost the same size as the graveyard's other church. However, once you enter it seems to be two or three times bigger than you expected. The ceilings and frescoes grab your attention immediately and you can really notice which parts have been restored and which haven't. The Abbey features a lot of art done in the naive style that characterizes the exterior crosses. It's somewhat odd to see innocent, colorful paintings of the crucifixion and resurrection. One recurring element that you'll see elsewhere in the city of Salzburg is the virgin birth: on one side, to the right of the altar, you can see a nativity scene covered with crystals.
