Church of San Giovanni

The towns of Toscolano and Maderno, united in a single municipality since 1928, are located on the banks of the Toscolano River delta, the so-called "Riviera of Lemons", situated on the western shore of Lake Garda. The various archaeological finds tell us about the Roman and Etruscan origins of Toscolano and neighboring Maderno. While there are a number of monuments that you can visit in these towns, I would recommend the Basilica of San Giovanni, located in the Piazza San Marco. It is a beautiful building in Lombard Romanesque style, with a simple facade and XII century porch which is beautifully carved.

The interior has three naves divided by colonnades and topped by beautiful capitals in the Lombard style. There are frescoes dating from the fifteenth century and Roman tombs in the crypt. In addition to their cultural and gastronomic attractions, Toscolano and Maderno also offer visitors various trails that descend from the hills to the lake. a panorama of incredible beauty.
