San Francesco Church

The Church of St. Francis, designed by Giovanni di Simone, was rebuilt after 1276. In 1343, chapels were added and the church was elevated. It has a single nave and a notable belfry, as well as fifteenth-century cloister. It houses works by Jacopo da Empoli, Taddeo Gaddi and Santi di Tito. Noteworthies including members of the Gherardesca family are buried in the chapel, and the walk to reach it, through intricate streets, is delightful.
