Church of Ntra. Sra. de Las Angustias

La Iglesia de Ntra. Sra de las Angustias se encuentra en la [poi=423731]plaza homónima[/poi], en pleno centro histórico de Ayamonte y está declarada Bien de Interés Cultural en la categoría de [b]Monumento[/b]. Este templo parroquial fue construido en el siglo XVI, aunque modificado y ampliado en los siglos posteriores, por lo que presenta diferentes estilos: mudéjar, barroco y neoclásico. Fue diseñado por Matías Fernández Cardoso, quien también realizó el retablo renacentista del altar mayor, que alberga la imagen de la patrona del templo en un camarín central de estilo rococó: la Virgen de las Angustias, en honor a quien se celebran las [poi=63883]fiestas patronales[/poi] de Ayamonte en la primera semana de Septiembre. También figuran en el retablo mayor las imágenes de María Magdalena, los cuatro Evangelistas, y San Pedro. A destacar la sillería del coro, de formas curvas, del siglo XVIII. La fachada está formada por dos columnas dóricas que enmarcan la puerta principal de entrada, a la que se accede a través de una escalinata de ladrillos de barro cocidos, los cuales se hallan delimitados por columnas de piedra unidas entre si por cadenas de ancho grosor. La torre fue levantada a la derecha de nave central tras el terremoto de Lisboa de 1.755; tiene planta cuadrada y está compuesta por tres cuerpos, destacando el central por estar realizado con rocas marinas. El templo tiene planta basilical y tres naves, separadas por arcos de medio punto con alfiz. Tiene dos capillas laterales y está cubierta por un valioso artesonado mudéjar de madera. Está abierta en horario de culto. Hay misa diaria a las 21h.

En el casco antiguo de Ayamonte se en encuentra esta iglesia, si no me equivoco la más grande del pueblo. Preciosa por dentro y por fuera. A los alrededores tienes mucho movimiento, ya que hay unos cuantos bares donde tapear.
