Church of Mercy (Igreja da Misericórdia)

In front of the Our Lady of Sorrows Church and Póvoa Hospital you'll find Mercy Church (Igreja da Misericordia). It's located in the square with the same name. The temple was opened in 1914 and it was designed by Adães Bermudez. It's strangeness is that it combines two architectural styles in its facade: Neoclassical in the lower part, and Baroque at the top. The front door is nestled under a porch that's formed by columns that support a large, triangular pediment. The Holy House of Mercy is in the back of the church and there they help disadvantaged people. It's only open only during services.
