Great panoramic views
Akureyri is the regional capital of northern Iceland and is at the bottom of the Eyjafjördur fjord. It's 100 km south of the Arctic Circle. It is surrounded by mountains, the biggest named Súlur is 1,213 meters above sea level, and Hlíðarfjall is 1,116 meters above sea level. It's a small industrial center. The city hosted the allied air forces during WWII. We visited a strange Akureyri church. It is located on top of a hill and is the symbol of the city. There are great panoramic views of Eyjafjördur Fjord from there.
