Church Notre - Dame

The "upper city" with its magnificent medieval collection is without doubt one of the biggest attractions for visitors to Cahuvigny, however, the "lower town" has a "treasure" that you must visit before you leave this beautiful town, the Church of Notre-Dame. Because of the damage after the tumultuous years of the revolution, the exterior of the building has undergone numerous restorations so, at first glance, its appearance may not be as spectacular as one would expect of a temple from the beginning of the eleventh century. Without a doubt, however, our opinion of the church completely changed after going inside where we admired the beautiful buildings, the imposing and magnificent choir apse and the magnificent Romanesque frescoes that stand out for their unusual subjects.
