Esta Iglesia fue construida entre 1580 y 1654, es una de las infraestructuras que mas sobresalen del centro histórico de la ciudad por lo cual lo mas probable es que cuando observe la ciudad por primera ves puede que sean sus cúpulas las primera que vea, se encuentra cerca a la plaza de la aduana, y como otros sitios de la ciudad también llevo diferentes nombres a lo largo de su existencia. Es una joya arquitectónica en todo el sentido de la palabra, su estilo colonial predominante de la época, nunca deja de maravillar a sus visitantes, en su altar mayor descansan los restos del hombre por el cual hoy lleva su nombre y el que se hizo llamar a si mismo "esclavo de los esclavos", es un lugar de peregrinación para los creyentes católicos y una de las mayores zonas turísticas de la ciudad frente a ella esta la Plaza Claver donde se encuentran una gran cantidad de esculturas en metal, el museo de arte moderno, la plaza de la aduana, y la escultura a San Pedro Claver. Es un sitio perfecto para la fotografía de recuerdo, si se quedan observándola durante un momento podrán percibir sus aires de época antigua y podrán simplemente transportarse a aquella época de la cruz y la espada y podrán sin duda ver caminar a san pedro frente a ella en compañía de un esclavo; es de mis sitios favoritos se los recomiendo a qui les dejo los votos profesados por san pedro al tomar el sentido de su sacerdocio y la firma con la que se le conocería.

Esta magnífica obra de los jesuitas del siglo XVII es una visita ineludible en la [poi=123420]ciudad vieja de Cartagena[/poi]. La iglesia, que mira a [poi=123976]plaza de San Pedro Claver[/poi], es una estupenda muestra de arquitectura hispano-colonial, aunque el interior del convento es lo que más asombra y conmueve. Conservado tal como era en sus orígenes, las grandes estancias del cenobio miran a un gran patio cubierto de plantas. Algunos de los salones están convertidos en museo, donde se exhiben estupendas pinturas y esculturas religiosas de la época colonial. Muy impresionante resultan las habitaciones y capilla de San Pedro Claver, conservados como si el tiempo no hubiera pasado.

Templo y Convento de San Pedro Claver, fue fundado por los jesuitas en el Siglo XVIII, antes se llamaba Templo de San Ignacio de Loyola, su nombre fue cambiado en honor al monje español Pedro Claver. Pedro Claver fue el primer santo canonizado del nuevo mundo. A parte de visitar el templo se visita también los aposentos donde vivió y murió. San Pedro Claver era un jesuita español que nació en Verdú (Catalunya), es el santo patrono de los esclavos, se le conoce como “el esclavo de los esclavos” . Sus restos están enterrados en el Templo. Su vida transcurrió en el puerto negrero de Cartagena de Indias, ayudando a mitigar el sufrimiento de miles de esclavos negros en una época difícil en la que los teólogos discutían incluso si los negros poseían alma, fue un ejemplo admirable de la defensa de los derechos humanos, ya en aquella época en que la esclavitud estaba en su máximo apogeo. El templo por su valor arquitectónico y significado histórico fue declarado Monumento Nacional. Es uno de los monumentos más visitados en Cartagena de Indias. www.rodamons.net .

Située sur la jolie place du même nom, à deux pas des remparts du centre historique, l'église San Pedro Claver ne reste ouverte qu'à l'heure de la messe qui reste interdite aux touristes à moins qu'ils sachent se faire discret et ne prennent pas de photo. On en profitera pour jeter un oeil à la belle nef de ce très vieux sanctuaire dédié au père des esclaves.

Me llamó mucho la atención lo bien conservado que se encontraba el convento, con zonas que tienen hasta pisos en madera original. Está lleno de la historia que rodea la Iglesia de San Pedro Claver y la labor en favor de los esclavos realizada por San Pedro Claver.
