Much more than just a gay neighborhood
Chueca is Madrid's gay neighborhood. And even if the sexuality of the inhabitants made it famous, it is far from being the only characteristic.
Located in the great Malasaña-Alonso Martínez-Chueca triangle, where the streets, shops and the passersby form a beautiful view, the neighborhood is special for the design places, the recently opened San Antón market and the nightlife. Chueca and Vázquez de Mella squares are a meeting point for young people on any night. The party reach a climax during the first weekend of July with the Gay Pride celebration: then the concerts and the huge crowd of cars, performers and people having a good time goes outside the neighborhood and invades Gran Vía down until Plaza de España.
