Christianshavn Canal

1 review of Christianshavn Canal

Charming neighborhood in Copenhagen

Christianshavn is a charming neighborhood in Copenhagen next to the historic district of Indre By. This is the second part of the city that was developed, and stands on an artificial island. The Danes dug several canals to make these island, making Christianshavn feel a bit like Amsterdam. It's a very pleasant spot, with old, colorful houses where you can go for a lovely walk along the banks or spend the afternoon on your boat. No need to go sailing - just have your lunch on the boat while it's docked! There are some restaurants, though not as many as in Nyhavn, an area which, in my opinion, is just too crowded.

Most people here had takeaway pizza or kebabs, or had simply brought food from home. There are even people who live here on houseboats, and some of the antique wooden boats are really beautiful.
