A historic part

The Meadow, 60 acres of Christ Church college, has been a historic part of the university since its inception. Open every day except Christmas. Beware of opening times, which often vary seasonally, but there is almost always someone who can help. At the end of the Long Walk, you get to the Thames in Oxford which is only a small river, nothing to do with London. Here, the Thames is called the Isis. During the school year see the students rowing on the river. In the east of the Meadow, is the River Cherwell. Walk down the street of St Aldate's, to find the war memorial, a memorial garden. The Meadows are popular with students, who come there at noon or weekend.

You can see a few cattle, Longhorn, a rare species that comes to eat Meadow grasses in summer. The cattle numbered 26 in 1986, are now almost 60. They spend the winter inside a nearby farm.
