Coquekiraw is an Inca city, known as the sister of Machu Picchu. It's not easily accessible, as it's 3033 m above sea level in the Salcantay foothills. It's in the valley of the Apurimac river. We arrived at a neighboring town and started here. The descent took us three hours at a pretty fast rate, and we camped on the edge of the river. We were up at dawn to climb to Choquequirao, the climb took us 4 hours. It took a lot of effort and was very tiring, but worth it. As we descended the stars surrounded us. Slowly the sun came out and we could discover the wonderful landscape around us. You need to be careful of your head and balance on this trek, only take what you really need.
