Chipi Chipi Restaurant

They offer all kinds of succulent dishes:
Starters: roasted cheese, pork rinds, chorizos, black pudding, grilled sausages; soups: vegetable, garbanzos; meats: pork, chicken, rabbit, goat, veal, ox; deserts: bienmesabe (local sweet sauce usually covering ice cream), Prince Albert, lemon cream, cheese, mouse.
How good does that sound?

It’s been around since the 50s, when the Yanes-Herrera family acquired some land for banana and tobacco farming.

Absolutely a must. Canarian cooking at its best in a luxurious setting. It’s a restaurant with a special charm. On our trip to La Palma, we tried several restaurant that everyone was telling me about, but you have to go to el Chipi Chipi y Casa Goyo during your stay on the island.

We went at night, for dinner, and although I don’t know what it’s like during the day, I recommend you do the same. It’s a place that has everything to make your mouth water. It’s set up with various small rooms, in the La Palma style. As you head out toward the terrace, the vegetation thickens, as does the restaurant’s charm. The lighting is perfect, and makes everything else I’ve been describing come to life.

El Chipi-Chipi is the restaurant that you must visit every time you come to La Palma.

It’s just like when you have to eat at Casa Lucio the first time you go to Madrid, only El Chipi-Chipi is much cheaper.

It’s a mythical place. It started as a small restaurant and slowly grew over the years, until it was remodeled by the artist Luis Morera a decade ago .

What’s there to eat at el Chipi? If you’re vegetarian, this isn’t the place for you. They have mixed salads with tuna and potatoes, but little more. This is a place for carnivores looking to eat tons of grilled meats.

Today we ate at the Chipi-Chipi restaurant, and the truth is every good thing I heard about it is true.

It’s almost an obligatory stop on your visit to the island. El Chipi-Chipi is a restaurant with meats and traditional Canary Island dishes. We ordered excellent grilled pork, garbanzos and pork rinds. Everything was exquisite. For desert we had bienmesabe (Canary Island desert) and Prince Albert, both classics in La Palma.

As Kailos says, the prices really are good. In our case, including a bottle of wine and water, it was about 11€ per person.
