La pittoresca chiesa di San Gervasio e Protasio si trova nel comune di Nimis, nella provincia di Udine e fu un esempio di edificio longobardo. Costruito nel VI secolo e "rimodernata" fino al XII, la piccola chiesa venne quasi interamente ricostruita sul modello dell'originale nel XIV secolo, a seguito di un violento terremoto. Inevitabile fu l'influenza gotica nella ricostruzione e, ai visitatori, appare chiaro anche oggi! A tre navate, l'interno della chiesa è decorato da affreschi di diversi periodi e, la navata centrale, termina con l'abside anticipata da un crocifisso. La struttura esterna è sovrastata da una torre campanaria. Chiesa davvero meritevole di una visita!
The picturesque church of San Gervasio and Protasio is located in the municipality of Nimis, in the province of Udine and was an example of the Lombard building. Built in the sixth century and "modernized" until the twelfth, the small church was almost entirely rebuilt on the original model in the fourteenth century, as a result of an earthquake. Inevitable was the Gothic influence in the reconstruction and visitors, it is clear even today! A three naves, the interior of the church is decorated with frescoes of different periods, and the nave ends with the apse preceded by a crucifix. The external structure is topped by a bell tower. Church really worth a visit!
