Chiesa parrocchiale e collegiata "Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo"

Si gode di uno splendido panorama, dai gradini che stanno davanti a questa chiesa, il lago di Bolsena, visto da qui, soprattutto al tramonto è davvero "mistico". La chiesa parrocchiale e collegiata di "Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo", si trova in alto, sulla rocca che caratterizza il promontorio di Capodimonte. La costruzione appare molto semplice all'esterno. Una gradinata esterna e la facciata bianca, senza orpelli, la chiesa fu costruita nel XV secolo per volere della famiglia Farnese, proprietaria della Rocca Farnese poco distante. L'edificio fu poi restaurato due secoli dopo e si presenta a noi in ottime condizioni. All'interno una lunga navata centrale che termina in una tela del 1700 in cui è raffigurata l'Assunzione, e sei altari minori. A parte l'antichità dell'edificio, e il fatto che sia la chiesa parrocchiale di Capodimonte, la bellezza di questa costruzione sta proprio nella posizione. Capodimonte infatti, ha un centro storico che si sviluppa in salita, inerpicandosi sulla rocca, e in cima a questa si trova la piazza del Municipio, la fortezza e la chiesa, appunto, con il lago a fare da fantastico sfondo.

The parish church and collegiate "Santa Maria Assunta in Heaven", is located high up on the rock that characterizes the Capodimonte promontory. The building looks very plain on the outside. An external staircase and white facade, without frills, the church was built in the fifteenth century by the Farnese family, owners of the Rocca Farnese not far. The building was restored two centuries later and is presented to us in very good condition. Inside a long central nave ending in a canvas of 1700 which depicts the Assumption, and six smaller altars. Apart from the antiquity of the building, and the fact that it is the parish church of Capodimonte, the beauty of this construction lies in its location. Capodimonte in fact, has a historic center that develops uphill, climbing on the rock, and on top of this there is the Town Hall Square, the fortress and the church, in fact, with the lake to act as a fantastic background.
