It is incredible that the counts of Roquefeuil are your hosts and that you are served by the lord himself in the stunning breakfast room in the morning. Reaching this authentic chateau at night is quite an adventure and sleep in it can also become so when thinking of the carnage that took place during the French Revolution or the occupation during World War II. The treatment by the owners cannot be more exquisite. We even had the privilege of access to the private library full of objects d'art, with a log fire going and a glass of wine from the region. Theimposing bathroom complete with vintage clawfoot tub, decor, paintings, antiques, and outside garden.
Breakfast with homemade jams and compote, croissants, fresh bread, served on silver and porcelain, was a highlight. The lovely gentleman made a bunch of flowers in the morning to take to the nearby graves of American soldiers who died during the Normandy landings. I could not help but take a picture of him with his daffodils in hand. This place is certainly unique and well situated for visits to Mont St Michel and its beautiful surroundings. The lady of the house lived in Barcelona and speaks Spanish.
