Alfonso Navarro Táppero
A famous ceremony
The changing of the guard ceremony is most famous at Buckingham Palace in London, or perhaps at the Vatican, but the Norwegians have their own version here in Oslo. Even several degrees below zero, in the icy conditions that can affect this city, nothing can stop the colourful ceremony from taking place. Every day of the year, at exactly 13:10, members of the royal guard in their flashy uniform begin the ceremony in the courtyard of Fort Akerhus, heading by Karl Johans Gate to the Royal Palace, where the ceremony ends at about 13:30. The wonderful setting makes the ceremony all the more spectacular.
