Molti conoscono per sentito dire gli hare krishna, ma forse pochi hanno avuto la possibilità di conoscere da vicino questo movimento. Nel centro di Madrid si trova un centro spirituale che consente a fedeli e curiosi di riunirsi. Nonostante i membri siano votati ad un'opera di evangelizzazione continua, nessuno vi farà pressione in alcun momento per aderire ai principi di questo gruppo, per cui è possibile assistere alle cerimonie e provare la loro cucina senza timori.
Da lunedì a sabato alle 2.30 si svolgono i tipici canti nel seminterrato del centro. Qui, seduti su dei cuscini, si può assistere alla funzione, di circa mezzora. Alle 3 si comincia a formare la fila per la mensa. Grazie a un'offerta (attualmente sono sei euro) si può ottenere un vassoio con varie pietanze: riso, stufati, insalata..
Il tutto è rigorosamente vegetariano. Il vegetarianismo è infatti uno dei pilastri della cultura vedica, tanto che possono orgogliosamente affermare di esserlo.. da 5.000 anni!
