Cemetery of the Wine

Uno de los sitios que más me fascinó de mi visita a La Rioja fue la visita a la bodega de Viña Tondonia y, especialmente, a su cementerio del vino. Es el lugar donde guardan aquellas botellas más valiosas, de las mejores y más antiguas añadas. Un lugar especial que tiene algo de misterioso, con sus telas de araña y su oscuridad. Es como si te adentraras en un túnel del tiempo y te dejaras llevar. Lo cierto es que el lugar está ahora cerrado, salvo casos especiales, al público, ya que se está dejando restaurar a la intemperie. Se mantiene oscuro y cerrado para que las telas de araña se regeneren y acaben con la polilla del corcho, el gran enemigo del buen vino.

One of the places that fascinated me most of my visit to La Rioja was the visit to the winery Viña Tondonia and especially his wine cemetery. It is the place where they keep those most valuable of the best and oldest vintages bottles. A special place that has something mysterious, with its cobwebs and darkness. It is as if you adentraras in a time warp and you"d stop out. The truth is that the place is now closed, except in special cases, the public, as it is leaving restore outdoors.
