Caves of Ajuy

No es muy difícil llegar a estas maravillosas cuevas de Fuerteventura. Una vez estemos montados en nuestro coche, tan sólo tendremos que seguir la carretera FV-621 y al final de ésta encontraremos la playa de Ajuy. Lo primero que observamos una vez allí, es que el paisaje dista bastante del que estamos acostumbrados. La arena negra es la protagonista y aunque las aguas allí son bastante bravas, es posible darse un baño en la playa, eso sí, con precaución. Pero lo interesante comienza tras el sendero que nos indica la dirección de las cuevas, una vez subimos a la montaña, es necesario detenerse para contemplar el paisaje.... Yo no sé vosotros, pero yo, no tengo la suerte de admirar un escenario tan majestuoso en mi día a día. Tras la pequeña parada seguimos por el sendero hasta que llegamos a una escaleras, mientras las bajamos el sonido del mar se hace mas fuerte y las enormes rocas dejan paso al agua brava. Hasta que por fin, llegamos a la cueva. La verdad es que es inmensa! Exploramos un poco para volver a subir y continuar por otro sendero, no me canso de decirlo las vistas hacia el infinito océano son increíbles! Y para terminar, camino de vuelta por nuestro sendero. ... Como última recomendación os diré que los restaurantes de la zona tienen buenos precios y podéis aprovechar para comer las famosas papas arrugas y el pescado que sirvan ese día. Si se viaja a Fuerteventura, pienso que uno de los lugares imprescindibles a visitar es Ajuy. Lo más conocido de Ajuy son sus cuevas, formadas por la erosión del viento y el mar al largo de los años, en los acantilados de roca volcánica que se encuentran envolviendo al pueblo. Existe un camino por estos acantilados que permite ver de cerca estas cuevas (incluso si se llega al final, se puede entrar en un par de ellas) y disfrutar de impresionantes vistas del mar y los acantilados. Por otro lado, Ajuy es un pueblo bonito, pequeño y tranquilo en el que se puede disfrutar de unas buenas "papas arrugadas", pescado o queso majorero (aunque el que nos sirvieron dejó mucho que desear...) en los bares y restaurantes más cercanos a la playa... Aún y así, lo mejor de Ajuy según mi opinión es su playa (igual que fuera Octubre y que hubiera poca gente ayudó)... Es una bonita playa de arena negra envuelta por acantilados y donde las rocas no impiden bañarse con tranquilidad... Es más, en el extremo derecho de la playa encontramos unas rocas donde al bajar la marea, se forman pequeñas piscinas de agua de mar (los niños del pueblo llamaban a la más grande de estas "el Charquito") en las que es agradable bañarse junto a peces, gambas y cangrejos sin tener que sortear las corrientes del Atlántico... Si aguantáis hasta el final del día en la playa o en la terraza de alguno de los bares de Ajuy (en especial uno llamado "Puesta de Sol") podréis ver una de las puestas más bonitas y impresionantes de toda la isla...¡os lo garantizo!

Impresionantes formaciones rocosas generadas por la erosión del mar. Lo mejor es leerse un poquito antes de visitarlas ya que sin entender mucho de geología puedes comprender la importancia que tienen. Además, como paisaje es impresionante de conocer. Muy recomendada la visita a las cuevas de Ajuy. No muy accesibles.

En el pequeño pueblo de Ajuy hay dos cosas fundamentales que hacer: una es comer pescado en algunos de los restaurantes cercanos a la costa y otra, es descansar la comida mientras uno se relaja tumbado a la espera del atardecer. Ajuy tiene una playa poco transitada y que permite disfrutar de un bonito atardecer. Tanto si uno va con amigos, familia o en pareja, es muy agradable respirar la brisa marina de esta zona de Fuerteventura y ver como los rayos de sol van cayendo en picado hacia el mar.

Estuve en el año 2013 y de vuelta a la isla en junio de 2017, no podía dejar de volver a visitar las cuevas de ajuy.... aunque mi vértigo no me permitió bajar hasta el final, merece la pena visitar sin duda esta maravilla de paisaje natural.

Tengo que decir que es espectacular que entre todos mantengamos paginas web como esta. Gracias a vuestros consejos fui a visitar este lugar y me encantó. El pueblo es un pueblo con color marinero y sabor a mar. Es muy coqueto y muy acogedor, el paseo es muy bonito y algo pedregoso, no recomiendo llevar "cholas", (chanclas). Se aprecia al subir la furia del mar, como rompe con estas montañas y el momento es todo un espectaculo. Al pasear por los hornos llegamos a la gran cueva donde podemos descender y adentrarnos a ella, desde dentro si se hace una foto hacia el exterior la imagen es preciosa. De vuelta paramos en un restaurante llamado Restaurante Puerto La Peña donde comimos un buen cabrito y bebimos una buena jarra de cerveza que a razon calidad precio estaba muy bien. Recomiendo este lugar. Visita obligada.

Playa de Ajuy (cuevas). Es un pequeño pueblito pesquero con playa de arena negra. No es muy segura para el baño debido a la divididas en su orilla, pero su principal atractivo son las cuevas que demandan muchísimo turismo! Un lugar precioso y digno de visitar:)
