Plaza de la Catedral

Tengo que empezar diciendo, que llegar a esta plaza después de unas horas andando y poder sentarte en la terraza que hay, y poder tomarte una cervecita (Bucanero) o comer algo, o simplemente para descansar, es la plaza ideal. No es muy grande y esta rodeada de edificios de estilo Barroco Cubano y datan todos los edificios del siglo XVIII. Los edificios que rodean la plaza son: -La bonita catedral de San Cristobal de La Habana, donde curiosamente reposaron los restos de Cristobal Colon desde 1795 hasta 1898, año en que los restos fueron trasladados a Sevilla. -El centro Wilfredo Lam, que tiene una cafetería y un centro de exposiciones. -El Palacio de los Marqueses de Aguas Claras, un precioso palacio dende se encuentra el Restaurante El Patio, donde tan buenos ratos he pasado comiendo y bebiendo. También tiene un precioso patio Andaluz . Prácticamente todo el día, tiene una banda de música, que toca música Cubana y música un poco mas moderna, gracias a los instrumentos modernos que tienen, y al anochecer, sentarte a tomar una cervecita o un mojito en su terraza, es algo que no debes dejar de hacer. -El Palacio de los Condes de Casa Bayona, hoy en día ocupado por el Museo de Arte Colonial, donde se encuentran muebles, bonitas piezas de porcelana y mucha vajilla colonial. En la plaza también encontramos otra banda de música muy peculiar, son musicos de los de antes, con rudimentarios instrumentos, pero que tocan muy bien. También encontramos una estatua del bailarín y coreografo Español, Antonio Gades, apoyado en una de las columnas del Palacio, donde yo me sentaba a sus pies y me apoyaba en sus piernas para poder contemplar a unos curiosos personajes de diversa índole, buscando la foto del turista y así poder ganarse unos pesos sin trabajar. Y como no, la autentica Santera, que te lee las manos y te predice el futuro, o también te puede quitar un mal de ojo, creo que es a la persona, que mas fotos le saca la gente, de todo Cuba. Va vestida de blanco, con muchos collares y fumando un puro grande. Creo que esa es una de las fotos que mas gusta a los turistas. Y solo me queda por decir, que si os pasáis por La Habana, no dejeis de daros una vuelta por la Plaza de la Catedral, no os defraudara.

Sin duda es lugar de visita obligada para todo turista que visite La Habana. La plaza de la Catedral se llamaba anteriormente Plaza de la Ciénaga, y data del siglo XVII, siendo uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos mejor conservados de América Latina de esta época. El edificio más significativo es la Catedral (del siglo XVI), pero en esta plaza hay también otros edificios coloniales de interés, como el Museo de Arte Colonial (antigua Casa del Conde de Casa Bayona), el Palacio del Marqués de Aguas Claras (actual el restaurante El Patio ) y la Galería de Arte Víctor Manuel. Hay varios bares y cafeterías que sacan sus terrazas a la plaza y hay muchísimo ambiente, e incluso pueden verse espectáculos musicales a última hora de la tarde.

La Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada, es hoy en día conocida como la Catedral de San Cristóbal. Es de estilo barroco, católica y está en el centro de La Habana Vieja, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1982. Se encuentra en la plaza del mismo nombre, en la cual veremos las mansiones de la nobleza habanera colonial, como el Palacio del Marqués de Arcos, la casa de los condes de Casa Bayona (ahora Museo de Arte Colonial), y la mansión del Marqués de Aguas Claras. Mi experiencia en este área no fue sólo la típica visita turística con las típicas fotos de la Catedral, sino que tuvimos la oportunidad de probar la comida más cubana en una CASA y no en un restaurante. Los cubanos los llaman "Paladares": ellos cocinan para ti y tú eliges el precio. Comimos langosta, "moros y cristianos" (plátano frito y arroz), con una buena cerveza cubana "Bucanero". No los encontrarás con carteles ni llamando la atención, obviamente, pero puedes preguntar a alguien "de tú a tú" porque quizás él mismo te cocine.

La place elle-même est en fait assez petite pour une place en Amérique latine, une promenade d'un bout à l'autre prend moins d'une minute, et mis à part des petits commerces et le "Museo de Arte Colonial" (Musée des Arts coloniaux), il n'y a pas vraiment beaucoup de chose à voir culturellement . Malgré cela son architecture et les petites rues aux alentours de la place sont d'un charme certain. Sa magnifique cathédrale est la principale attraction de la place.

Un piazza non molto grande ma comunque imponente e dominata dalla facciata della cattedrale di San Cristobal (San Cristoforo). Una piccola curiosità all'interno vi è una statua del santo che perlomeno in Italia non è mai presente all'interno delle chiese ma solo affrescato sulle facciate. Di fianco alla cattedrale si intravede l'insegna del più noto bar di Cuba "La bodeguita del medio" dove Hemingway sostava per bersi il famoso mojito. Degno di nota in un piccolo vicolo ceco dalla parte opposta della piazza il Paladar di Dona Eutimia dove si mangia divinamente.
