Havana Cathedral

Dominada por dos torres desiguales y con una fachada barroca diseñada por Borromini, fue descrita por Alejo Carpentier como " música grabada en piedra". Los jesuitas iniciaron la construcción en 1748 y las obra continuaron después de la expulsión de la orden en 1767. Cuando se terminó el edificio en 1787 se creó la diócesis de La Habana y la iglesia pasó a ser catedral y una de las más antiguas de América. Los restos de Colón yacieron enterrados en ella hasta 1898, cuando fueron trasladados a Sevilla. La mejor hora para visitarla es entre las misas, y escabullirse de entre los grupos de turistas, ya que aunque sea catedral no es impresionantemente grande, más bien como una iglesia chiquita, coquetuela pero como con ganas de crecer aunque se sepa aprisionada por los palacios que la rodean y por su historia.

Tengo que decir que por más que lo intenté no conseguí ver el interior de la Catedral, aunque ponía el horario, siempre estaba cerrada, no se si pasa siempre o fue "mala pata" mía.
