    Castle Rock

If you are looking for a place to stay in Edinburgh, then I recommend that you book Castle Rock. It's a Scottish backpackers hostel located just behind Edinburgh Castle and three minutes from the main street Lawnmarket, where there are plenty of souvenir shops, restaurants and where, along it, there are several monuments and sights. Castle Rock has a great atmosphere and a lot of young travelers stop by. The main room, the larger one, and the smaller ones are cheaper. This hotel has more than 14 to 16 beds for about 12 pounds per night (about 13 euros). The room is quite spacious, so you do not get the feeling of being crowded or cramped because people tend to respect the fact that they're sharing a room.

The only drawback is that the bathrooms are mixed, and sometimes it's a little inconvenient to have to shave in front of strangers. The hostel also has a kitchen where you can prepare food you've brought from abroad, and breakfast is included in the price per night (although those traveling from hostel Solais know that they aren't very good, as they're only a cup of cocoa, coffee or tea). The best part of this hostel is that it has two rooms, a small one with a DJ station, and another huge one where guests (from all over the world) gather to play pool, different games, play the guitar, read, etc. The decor is another aspect of the hostel that draws a lot of attention because it seems like you're actually staying in a castle, because there is even a statue of a soldier there(at night it's a little scary). The staff is very kind, they're all young people from around the world: American, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, etc. If you love Edinburgh and if you want to stay there, it's possible you can survive here for the same price or better as anywhere else.

    A very friendly place

The Castle Rock Hostel is nestled a few steps from the castle on Johnston Terrace, in the heart of the old town. Housed in an old building probably dating from the middle ages, the hostel has reinvented the decoration of the time (knights in armor, large rooms, large marble staircases, chandeliers ...) by refreshing it and giving it a more modern style.

It offers all kinds of comfort from a dormitory to a personal room. This is undeniably one of the most friendly hostels in Edinburgh (friendlier compared to those I've experienced in my travels) with its large rooms (large kitchen, lounge with pool table and large table ...) where you can meet people from all walks of life.

In addition, if you participate in collective household rooms the night is free!
