The ceilings are wonderful
The Castle or Chateau de Pau is one of the most imposing buildings in Pau. It's located in the town centre, and it's not hard to find. It houses a museum, but we were walked around the outside. Its origin is medieval. It was begun in the 12th century, and though not fortified until many years passed and many monarchs. What surprised us most about the Chateau de Pau was the decor and Renaissance sculptures. The ceilings are wonderful, with the towers and moat not far behind. It's one of the best preserved castles I've ever seen. Finally, I recommend walking through the gardens, heirs of the French tradition.
