Coline
Built by Henry VIII
Strongly resembling the nearby Walmer Castle and built along the same lines (a central tower surrounded by several bastions), Deal Castle was built on the orders of Henry VIII around 1540. Having left the Catholic church and founded his own branch of Christianity, he was expecting to be attacked so he started a large defensive program. Indeed, the building has a very strategic location (and beautiful views of the bay), and is very well preserved despite the centuries that have passed since it was built. Don't miss it!
