Castle of Cherven
Cheven Castle is a ruin of what was once a large fortified town in the Middle Ages, but unfortunately hasn't manage to survive over time. The fortress, which overlooks the river Cherni Lom has an incredible view over the region, about 20 kilometers all around. The most amazing thing is when you go down to the city of Cherven on the main road, you can hardly see the castle, which had to be very hidden to avoid enemy attacks. Admission costs two euro, and first you go up a small path to the plateau on which they built the castle, and the town, all of which was sheltered by the walls. There are several churches, the Basilica, and two systems which were used to pump water from the river below, to raise it for the people in the town and castle.
