Castelmola

Castelmola is a village of 1000 inhabitants, called the Eagles Nest of Taormina, as it is located high above Taormina, and from where the views exceed the already very good ones you have from Taormina, which, although above Mount Tauro,is about 500 meters below Castelmola. From Castelmola you don't only see Taormina but also Giardini, Naxos, and Sant Alessio Siculo, which are even further distance away. Not being a very large town, Castelmola is ideal for a half day tour. Walking from Taormina you can reach it in 90 minutes, and if you go by bus it is 10 minutes from Taormina, but as the road is winding and uphill .....
