Highly recommended
La Casa de Mama is a beautiful hostel in the neighbourhood of San Blas in Cusco. Service is provided by the charming Carmen, who will make you feel right at home. Our room was lovely, with a charming view of the city that encouraged us to have our breakfast in the room. The rooms are spacious, with a wardrobe and desk, dining table and mini-kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, and everything you need for cooking. Two of the walls are large glass windows, so you can sleep and wake up admiring the beautiful view of the city.
The ensuite bathroom is simple, but with plenty of hot water and a hairdryer.
The wifi is free, with a great signal. It's in one of the oldest parts of Cusco, in a higher part of the city. To get here, you'll need to climb a small hill - but it's worth it, because the neighbourhood is very charming, with narrow streets, houses built on Incan ruins, and some good views of the city. Furthermore, there are plenty of craft workshops in the area. By the way, on the road between the square and the hostel there's a good selection of restaurants and bars, such as Jack or Inkafe Cafe. In January 2012, we paid around $40 a night. Highly recommended for a quiet stay where you feel at home, with beautiful views of the city in a good location at a reasonable price.
