Found on the iconic Calle Las Damas opposite the National Pantheon, is this old colonial house converted into an Accor chain hostel. It was a residential mansion from the XVI century high society owned by Francisco Davila who restored it by joining it to the Ovando House (this union is what today forms the hostel). It was considered at the time as one of the most comprehensive in the city because it had a private chapel known as the Chapel of Remedies, a fort, a strong city wall and a tower-vantage point from where they could see the Port of Santo Domingo. Its stone façade with a Gothic doorway is considered unique in America.
