A popular route
One of the routes through the Campsie Fells is that which follows the River Carron from Carron Bridge to the valley of the same name. There you'll find a dam that was previously considered to be a lake, the Lake Carron. It's a popular route, and as you pass through the surrounding woods you'll see beautiful views of the valley, with the wind and water adding a touch of drama to the landscape. The waters teem with fish, so they're popular with local fisherman. Interestingly, what was originally a lake has changed over the years; small tectonic movements were moving water into the valley, endangering people.
So the dam was built to prevent that, but in practice, it seems exactly like a lake.
