Italian carnivals are fantastic!. The Carnival of Viareggio is one of the most traditional, with a mixture of satire and humor and parades. There is food and drink and partying everywhere. Its not a huge tourist destination, either.Between the stereotypical Venice Carnival or the deep traditions of Viareggio, this one is the best.
