A remote village
A village on the source of Loch Harport, Carbost is the last place where you can refuel in this remote corner of the island of Skye. There's a grocery store (with an extremely limited range available), a few houses dotted along the loch, but also a distillery. This is the Talisker whisky distillery, making strong, spicy whisky (43%), and is one of the last independent distilleries. You can take a look inside and learn about the manufacturing process. And finally, you can empty your wallet buying a bottle that would be twice as cheap in the nearest supermarket (which in this case, is 40km away!).
