Cantinas

Sometimes it's great to get to know a city with a local. And it's better if they're a student because they know all the tricks! That's what happened to me when I went to visit a friend who was on Erasmus in Coimbra, and one of the good things that I found were the CANTINAS. They're bars offering a cheap, daily menu. Many students eat there, but so can anyone else. You take a tray and line up. There is a different menu each day, and the day I went I ate salad, rice, grilled chicken and potatoes, bread and water for only 2.5 €! Not bad, no? Like I said, it doesn't hurt to know someone from there.
